CACC stalwart Ali Wray has capped a great season for this year’s Under 9s by sponsoring a Clifton Alliance cap for each player.

A Wray Electrical are already a board sponsor at the Vincent & Brown Alliance Cricket Ground. But with Ali’s son Jamie now playing for the Under 9s regularly the prolific batsman wanted to do something more this season.

Ali, who manages one of this year’s Under 9 teams, said, “A few parents had asked me about caps, and I wanted all the team to have one. However, I didn’t want them all to have to pay for a cap. So it made sense for me to just sponsor them.”

Junior chairman Sid Corley said, “This is a fantastic gesture from Ali. All the kids were delighted to get their Clifton Alliance cap.

“It makes a massive difference to have all the kids wearing the same headgear in the field. It adds a real professional look to the team.

“We don’t currently include any kit as part of our signing-up package for junior cricketers. However, it is an option we’re considering. I’d welcome views from junior parents as to whether they’d prefer slightly higher fees and get a cap, for example, as part of the deal.”

If anyone else wants to buy one of the caps, they are on sale exclusively outside the clubhouse each Friday night. They cannot be bought anywhere else.
